The cliffhanger and the agonizing wait for Season 2 are very real! As a reader who binge-read the entire first season in one sitting, the withdrawal symptoms are intense. You might want to seriously consider whether to dive in now and suffer the hiatus wait, or hold off until the new season officially begins.

What is Myst, Might, Mayhem about? (Synopsis)

Set in the same overarching universe as Nano Machine but taking place in a much earlier historical timeline, the story follows Mok Gyeong-woon. On the outside, he appears to be an innocent, cheerful, and almost naive young servant. However, beneath that smiling facade lies a terrifying, bloodthirsty, and utterly unhinged nature. In a brutal Murim (martial arts) world where strength dictates survival, Gyeong-woon is an absolute anomaly. Driven by his own twisted, unpredictable logic and an insatiable, obsessive thirst for martial arts, he embarks on a violent journey, casually slaughtering anyone foolish enough to stand in his way.

The way the artist captures Mok Gyeong-woon's expressions of pure madness is chillingly perfect. It is a feast for the eyes in every single panel.

2. A Pure, Unfiltered "Munchkin" (No AI Needed!)

While Cheon Yeo-woon from Nano Machine relied on a futuristic AI system to jumpstart his overpowered journey, Mok Gyeong-woon is just built fundamentally differently. He is a pure, unadulterated "Munchkin" (overpowered protagonist) right from the get-go, relying entirely on his monstrous raw talent and sheer psychopathic combat instincts. Watching him dismantle established martial arts masters with nothing but his innate genius and ruthless brutality makes for some of the most satisfying and exhilarating action sequences I have ever read.

3. The Prequel Connection and The Mystery of Power Inflation

Because this story takes place in the same universe but in an earlier era, reading both series provides an incredible dual experience. However, the part that I personally find the most fascinating—and what keeps me thinking about the lore—is the massive gap in power scaling between the two eras. In the timeline of Myst, Might, Mayhem, reaching the Hwagyeong (Profound Realm) is depicted as a monumental, almost legendary achievement that few can ever hope to attain. Yet, when we move forward to the era of Nano Machine, Hwagyeong experts are seemingly everywhere, and even those in the mythical Hyeongyeong (Divine Realm) appear quite frequently. As a reader, I cannot help but wonder: what on earth happened in the martial arts world between these two timelines? How did such a massive inflation in power levels occur? Discovering the hidden history that bridges these two eras adds a brilliant layer of mystery that goes far beyond simple action.

Who is this recommended for?

If you appreciate absolute top-tier artwork, unhinged and insanely powerful protagonists, and love finding deep lore easter eggs in an expanded universe, Myst, Might, Mayhem is a must-read. If you have already read Nano Machine, seeing the origins of this world will make you appreciate both works even more.
