Today, I want to share my personal thoughts on an absolute masterpiece in the martial arts genre: Gosu (Korean title: 고수). In my opinion, this is an essential, must-read Korean martial arts webtoon. It is actually the sequel to the classic, authentic martial arts manhwa "Yongbi the Invincible." To give you an idea of my personal journey with this series, I actually read Gosu first and was so deeply impressed by it that I went back to read Yongbi, even though it is quite an old comic. I truly believe that anyone who appreciates a well-crafted story will find this series captivating.

From my perspective, this is a phenomenal tale of hidden strength and vengeance. The story follows Gang Ryong, a seemingly ordinary and chubby dumpling delivery boy who is secretly the supreme disciple of a legendary martial arts master. After his master passes away, Gang Ryong steps into the martial arts world to fulfill a vow of revenge against the traitors who ruined his master's life. However, upon entering the world, he discovers that his targets are already dead. Watching him navigate this sudden loss of purpose while getting dragged into massive conflicts completely absorbed my attention.

1. What I Admired Most: A Masterful Adaptation to the Webtoon Style

In my eyes, the most impressive aspect of this webtoon is how the creators handled the medium. The author is a legend of classic, authentic Korean manhwa, and I was amazed by how perfectly they adapted their traditional style into a highly sophisticated and modern webtoon format. My personal thought as I read was that they didn't just copy standard webtoon trends; they elevated them, creating a polished, incredibly well-made work that bridges the gap between old-school authenticity and modern scrolling visuals.

In my opinion, after building up such massive tension and incredible storylines over the years, the final resolution left me wanting just a bit more closure. However, I still firmly believe this minor flaw does not ruin the overarching brilliance of the series.

My personal recommendation goes out to anyone who wants to experience the absolute peak of Korean martial arts webtoons. If you appreciate clean, easily readable combat choreography, massive and explosive battle scales, and a story crafted by true veterans of the genre, I think you absolutely must read this.
